Greetings from the Department of Tropical Medicine and Parasitology

Welcome to Tropical Medicine and Parasitology

     In our department we investigate several aspects from the infection to diagnosis and control of parasites. Our main research subjects are: Zoonotic Malaria, Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) and Vectors/Vector borne diseases.
    Our goal is to respond to the endemic areas people need in health, with innovation in basic and applied science for sustainable development.

Research Fields

1. Zoonotic Malaria

・Physiopathology of severe malaria using a simian malaria model
・Development of new molecular diagnostic techniques for malaria
・Epidemiology of malaria in endemic areas of Southeast Asia

2. NTDs

・Comparative studies on the pathogenesis and immune response in schistosomiasis japonica and schistosomiasis mekongi
・Improvement and development of new diagnostic methods for STHs, schistosomiasis and opisthorchiasis
・Application of environmental DNA in Ecoepidemiology of NTDs
・Epidemiology of NTDs in Southeast Asia and Africa
